The space exploration in a unique poster

Initial printing proof of the poster.

I have been publishing articles on the History of Science since 2001 and, in all this time, many of them have had to do with Space Technology. It can be said that everything spatial, astronomical and astronautical is one of my passions.

Another of these passions is Cartography and the design of visual data representations. One logical step was to unite these two passions into a series of products and designs. My first step in that idea is “Explorers from Earth”, a poster in which I wanted to review the most important milestones of space exploration to date. The challenge has been complex, from the selection of missions, data filtering, the design itself, everything has been complicated over the weeks.

The final result is a poster that gathers an infographic visualization of the Solar System, together with the flight trajectory of the Voyager 1 and 2 probes, as well as a graph of the planets of our stellar system. And, on that tapestry, I have deployed by color groups the missions that have explored the Moon, Mars, the rest of planets, from Mercury and Venus to giant planets, space stations and several examples of space scientific platforms, such as space telescopes.
